Leaving on a Jet Plane

Leaving on a Jet Plane

So two years have flown by and I’ve had such a good time. Whilst the Philosophy at Heythrop was a very different experience to Rhodes, being in London was great and I am sorry to leave, but at the same time excited about the future. I never seem to be able to plan well enough ahead of time to finish comfortably in time for a relaxed farewell – as usual I had a whirl-wind final week of packing; handing in; (almost successfully) tying up loose ends; saying farewell to some friends and family; and leaving on a  Jet Plane to Lusaka (via Johannesburg). I was especially heartened by the many goodbyes from so many people – especially from the Parish and the Altar Servers. After a great holiday in Spain with Tony Carroll SJ and Michael Bingham SJ I leave London and Stamford Hill – a community I grew to love – for Johannesburg and a no doubt equally busy time of seeing family, community and friends before arriving in Lusaka.
